Glossary

Who this is for

Anyone reading Owlie docs who needs consistent terminology.

Goal

Define Owlie’s core vocabulary once so every page can refer back to it.

Prereqs

  • None

Success criteria

You can map each term to a concrete Owlie object or workflow.

Core terms

  • Account: A profile in an external system connected to an identity.
  • API key: A token used to authenticate API calls. Owlie API keys use the Authorization: Owlie [APIKEY] header.
  • Assigned resource: The link between an identity and a resource, with a status (requested, approved, fulfilled, revoked).
  • Audit event: A log entry describing an action or change for evidence.
  • Campaign: A scoped access review exercise. Coming soon.
  • Decision: An approval or rejection recorded with evidence.
  • Entitlement: A permission or role in an external system.
  • Evidence: Proof of who decided what, when, and why.
  • Identity: A person or service account in Owlie.
  • Resource: A requestable access item, often representing one or more entitlements.
  • Request: A workflow that asks for access to one or more resources.
  • Role: A permission grouping inside Owlie for admin or auditor access.
  • Ticket: A work item for approval or fulfillment.

Example

An identity requests a resource, which creates a request and one or more tickets. Approvers record decisions that become audit evidence.
