New to IGA

Who this is for

Admins and security teams setting up identity governance for the first time.

Goal

Understand the basics of IGA and get Owlie configured for your first workflow.

Prereqs

  • None

Success criteria

You can explain core concepts and start the first implementation task.

What you’re trying to accomplish

  • Ensure the right people have the right access
  • Prove it with evidence (auditors, security reviews)
  • Handle joiner, mover, leaver changes without manual chaos

Owlie’s mental model

Read these in order:

  1. /fundamentals/identities-accounts
  2. /fundamentals/entitlements-roles
  3. /fundamentals/audits-evidence

Your first hour

  1. Read /implement/setup/environments
  2. Connect your first system at /implement/setup/first-connector
  3. Configure access requests at /implement/requests/access-requests

Example

Scenario: A 200‑person company needs GitHub read‑only access for all engineers and audited approvals for admin access. Start with /implement/setup/first-connector, then configure a GitHub resource and approvals in /implement/requests/access-requests.

Troubleshooting

  • Not sure if you should start with identity ingestion or access requests? Start with ingestion first. Owlie needs identities and entitlements before governance workflows are meaningful.
